In essence, linear, legible paths represent liquid investments in human capital - easily valued and traded. Non-linear, "customized" paths, on the other hand, are illiquid investments. They could be accruing significant value or none at all, but they're hard to mark to market.

Simulations also demonstrated that the 5 monthly palivizumab doses of 15 mg/kg, consistent with the label and studied in two randomized, clinical trials, provided greater and more prolonged palivizumab exposure than did an abbreviated dosing regimen of 3 monthly doses.

“That makes your negotiation five very important minutes. You generally can’t do a totally bang up job on any five minutes of work this year and have your boss give you an extra $5,000. You can trivially pick up $5,000 in salary negotiations just by sucking less.”

Getting it wrong is evidence that you’re still trying to get it right. Yes, it’s embarrassing, but it’s also normal and okay.

Just because someone is kind, or sweet, or smart, or compatible with you doesn’t mean they are capable of loving you in a way that feels good, or even capable of returning your love for them.

I give other people permission to be the way they are, and that made me want to tear up. Both because that’s how I want to show up in the world and because that’s a sign I give myself permission to be the way I am. To feel the love that arises naturally, and say I don’t feel it when I don’t.

it’s my fault, I acted weird, I misjudged the situation, why am I still fixated on it… all this circular thinking that ultimately was focused on controlling the situation and rationalizing the pain. These days, I feel pretty okay with whatever I feel, and what other people feel as well.
it's okay to care too much - by Ava - bookbear express
how the problem with caring too much is that in most relationships no one else is truly accountable for your pain. You can love someone intensely, and they can, and might, just brush it off. Even if they feel the same way, they may not respond the way you want them to. That doesn’t make them a bad person. But it also doesn’t make you a bad person.

For the head of the curve — we need to remind ourselves that our careers are defined by the highest moments of the biggest swings. Let’s maximize these opportunities. Make a Master Plan, and then pick a direction and go! Embrace more serendipity, talk to more interesting people, take more swings, and go deep on your craft. Proactively position yourself to jump into action when 10x moments emerge, and create the opportunity to pour resources (time, people, capital) into a project that catches on.

irst, does tocilizumab act peripherally only, or centrally within the CNS? Can tocilizumab cross the blood–brain barrier, and is this important to the potential effectiveness of tocilizumab? Tocilizumab has been predominantly used in rheumatoid arthritis to maintain remission, and the speed of action of IL-6 blockade has not been well studied in CNS disease.

Accepting that the person we love will inevitably be flawed could be the first step to clear-eyed discernment of what exactly those flaws are. But when we expect both ourselves and our partners to be perfect or, at least, perfectible, we become vulnerable to dangerous traps.
