I have spent 22 seasons experiencing the transition into shorter days, and yet still the 3 pm indigo sky catches me off guard. The trees were beautiful for only a moment. I’m afraid I didn’t savor it enough before the leaves fell. The earth is dying, as it does every year and everything is tinted grey. Its rebirth, though inevitable, seems so far away. I never know how to make it through, how to find my way without the sun. On the days I have a lot of work, I finish around 4 or 5pm, after sunset.
