I strongly oppose to starting companies in one’s twenties. When you’re fresh out of college, you simply don’t have the knowledge, resources, and connections it takes
Why I don’t want to be a founder – Zara ZhangKnowledge, resources, and connections are crucial.
Why I don’t want to be a founder – Zara ZhangYou see a big problem in the world that many many people have, and you personally feel that pain and know a lot of people who feel that pain
Why I don’t want to be a founder – Zara ZhangIf you’ve never been managed before, you can hardly learn what makes a good or bad manager
Why I don’t want to be a founder – Zara ZhangWorking for someone else is a skill you have to learn if you wanna be a founder
Why I don’t want to be a founder – Zara ZhangOptionality is the state of enjoying possibilities without being on the hook to do anything
The Trouble with Optionality | Opinion | The Harvard CrimsonFeatures are the internal concepts a model uses to generate output, often associated with specific neurons or groups of neurons that represent fundamental building blocks of the model's decision-making process.
Goodfire | AI Interpretabilitytrained interpreter models (sparse autoencoders) on Llama-3-8B to extract modifiable "features" from Llama
Goodfire | AI InterpretabilityThere's always something coming on the next hour; the only question is what. But when someone on the maker's schedule has a meeting, they have to think about it.
Maker's Schedule, Manager's ScheduleThey generally prefer to use time in units of half a day at least. You can't write or program well in units of an hour.
Maker's Schedule, Manager's ScheduleYes, I literally mean, write the unit tests before the code

How Figma builds product - by Lenny RachitskyThis helped me understand what a team was philosophically going for.
How Figma builds product - by Lenny RachitskyI asked teams to instead define headlines—essentially, claims that they’d like to make by the end of some time period.

Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | Mediumthere is this skill you have to learn of wrestling with the material and digging up all the evidence you can to string together a thesis that declares an opinionated interpretation
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumI think that Harvard taught me a certain kind of humility, to become comfortable with the idea that I was rarely the one to have the best answers, and to learn to assume there’s always more to learn than I think
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumFor me, it’s about finding creativity in the most mundane
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumToo often designers take their viewer’s attention for granted, and a great storyteller knows they’re not afforded that luxury
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumWithout a doubt, it’s storytelling
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | Mediumit’s far more likely that they come up with a better solution than you individually can, so your job first and foremost is to equip everyone with a deep understanding of the problem and the motivation for solving it
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumI think the biggest change was going from being the person solving the problem to being the person who creates the environment for others to solve the problem
Harvard in Tech Spotlight: Yuhki Yamashita, VP of Product at Figma | by Jess Li | Harvard in Tech | MediumDemocrats have spent all this time choosing to do nothing to solve the most obvious problems they faced in 2024, and now the argument is that there is nothing they can do; it’s too late. Now to even admit these problems is “unhelpful.”

What is the DIGS Method™? — Lewis C. LinDetails and context are imperative when crafting a narrative about why your job, project, or product matters
What is the DIGS Method™? — Lewis C. LinTracking customer signups for a service. The bar for signing up for a service has gotten lower and lower, thanks to the popularity of free signup and pay later “freemium” models
What is the AARM Method™? — Lewis C. LinIn your first 10 mocks or so, you are usually nervous and ramble on, trying to apply a standard framework to every question. After 20–25 mocks, you have a much better grasp of how to structure an answer and tackle more ambiguous questions
