feedback loop of intelligence and energy to make everything we want and need abundant.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen Horowitzshould place intelligence and energy in a positive feedback loop, and drive them both to infinity
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe believe in Milton Friedman’s observation that human wants and needs are infinite.

The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzDavid Friedman points out that people only do things for other people for three reasons – love, money, or force
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe are crippled by the opportunity cost
You’re not lacking creativity, you’re overwhelmedIf a lot of goods and services drop in price, the result is an upward explosion of buying power, real income, and quality of life.

The Slow Death of Authenticity in an Attention Economy | Cory ZueWhy? Well to grow you need to be noticed. To be noticed, you need to stand out. And to stand out is—usually—inauthentic. Yes, we all say and do noteworthy things, but not every day. To do or say noteworthy things every day involves some degree of forcedness, repetition, or trying. The opposite of authenticity.
The Slow Death of Authenticity in an Attention Economy | Cory ZueI go on Twitter for authenticity
The Slow Death of Authenticity in an Attention Economy | Cory ZueWe believe a technologically stagnant society has limited energy at the cost of environmental ruin; a technologically advanced society has unlimited clean energy for everyone.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzA technologically advanced society improves the natural environment, a technologically stagnant society ruins it.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzNow, in addition, it is a God-given instrument to do the constructive work of mankind
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe believe energy need not expand to the detriment of the natural environment. We have the silver bullet for virtually unlimited zero-emissions energy today – nuclear fission. In 1973, President Richard Nixon called for Project Independence, the construction of 1,000 nuclear power plants by the year 2000, to achieve complete US energy independence. Nixon was right; we didn’t build the plants then, but we can now, anytime we decide we want to.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzThat gap will close – either by massively expanding energy production, making everyone better off, or by massively reducing energy production, making everyone worse off.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe believe in Augmented Intelligence just as much as we believe in Artificial Intelligence. Intelligent machines augment intelligent humans, driving a geometric expansion of what humans can do.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzRay Kurzweil defines his Law of Accelerating Returns: Technological advances tend to feed on themselves, increasing the rate of further advance.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen Horowitzbelieve Hayek’s Knowledge Problem overwhelms any centralized economic system.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe believe the market economy is a discovery machine, a form of intelligence – an exploratory, evolutionary, adaptive system.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe had a problem of starvation, so we invented the Green Revolution.
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzWe believe this is the story of the material development of our civilization
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzProductivity growth, powered by technology, is the main driver of economic growth
The Techno-Optimist Manifesto | Andreessen HorowitzSyntactic sugar is usually bad.

The Tyranny of the Marginal User - by Ivan VendrovIt cares about the marginal user - the billion-plus-first user - and it focuses all its energy on making sure that marginal user doesn’t stop using the app.

Scars are beautiful — Steph AngoIn the book Antifragile, the author rejects the notion that the opposite of fragility is resilience, thus coining the word “antifragile”: things that become stronger or better when they are challenged or exposed to chaos and uncertainty. Many things in nature are antifragile. The muscles in your body are adapted to become stronger as they heal from being torn by physical exertion. Likewise, products and systems can be designed to not only withstand aging but improve over time.

Twitter's Recommendation AlgorithmBy not keeping a schedule, I mean: refuse to commit to meetings, appointments, or activities at any set time in any future day. As a result, you can always work on whatever is most important or most interesting, at any time. Want to spend all day writing a research report? Do it! Want to spend all day coding? Do it! Want to spend all day at the cafe down the street reading a book on personal productivity? Do it!
Guide to Personal ProductivityWhat does concern me is the generally unrealistic worldview that held by so many American youth – the idea that good things just happen and that when they don’t, it’s someone else’s fault.
Advice For New College GradsFinally, I don’t understand why many calendar apps force you to use your phone in landscape in order to load a week view. Many, many people lock rotation on their phones, so they have to give up on the week view. It’s frustrating to see that I’ve become less productive on my phone now that I can’t use Sunrise anymore. I feel lost and it shouldn’t be like that. Maybe one day a company will develop a modern calendar app that plugs with all sorts of internet services, gives you useful information in a compelling way and lets you effortlessly move from one day to another. But for now, I’ll just tr…
Sunrise was the best calendar app ever and now I feel lost | TechCrunchLife is short; don’t waste it. Tell the truth. Technology should enhance human creativity. Process matters. Beauty matters. Details matter. The world we know is a human creation—and we can push it forward.
Make Something Wonderful | Steve JobsThey can’t point to breakthroughs or successful products that they shipped and played an integral part in. Ultimately the results should lead you to the people. As a matter of fact, that’s how I find great people. I look at great results and I find out who was responsible for them.
Make Something Wonderful | Steve JobsBefore you “spend” four or more years of your life going in a direction your heart may or may not want you to go, you need to recapture them.

Make Something Wonderful | Steve JobsBut one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there.
Make Something Wonderful | Steve JobsIn school, I felt as if there was a huge gap between what I hoped it would do—inspire students to follow their natural curiosity (physical desires) and instill them with a confidence in their own abilities to master their own unique challenges in life—and what it actually did— instill obedience to conform to a singular carved out path of socially acceptable illusions.

Notion CEO Ivan Zhao: Augmenting Human Intellect | Sequoia Capital US/EuropeCrippled systems of desire, unable to adapt, have made it so that we gravitate toward the path of least resistance — monetizing YouTube videos of people reacting to other YouTube videos, for instance — and lack the will to build the essential tools needed for human survival and flourishing.
