ALI is an approach for analyzing voltage imaging data that is inspired by algorithms used in super-resolution microscopy. It allows resolving the activity of single neurons in densely labeled populations in scattering conditions.

Main Neurons compute and communicate using brief electrical signals known as APs. Lasting only about 1 ms, these signals carry rich information about our perception, actions and thoughts. Voltage-sensitive fluorescent proteins1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 convert APs into rapid changes in fluorescence intensity, providing a means to measure these signals in all expressing neurons.
