Meaning: what previously struck me as questionable behaviour I now see as the ego’s bid for attention. I also see behaviour I used to view as an indicator of good character for what it really is: a product of humility, or low ego. As I have gone deeper inwards, I noticed how many of my (small) decisions were unconscious bids for… attention? acknowledgement? reverence? respect? status? a social currency of some kind.
