A call to create a new generation of social products
If consumer social products aim to “give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together”, they are not currently succeeding in their mission. Loneliness and isolation are large and growing problems in the developed world, with over 20% of US and UK adults classified as lonely and the size of people’s close social networks shrinking rapidly over the last couple of decades.
