Designlab | Unit 2 | Design Thinking
You’re here to study design… but have we talked about what design is in the first place? We love this definition from Charles Eames, because of just how expansive it is: Design is “a plan for arranging elements to accomplish a particular purpose.” Design is about more than just mere decoration. Design is all around us, from the homes we live in, to how our governments deliver essential services to us as citizens, to the new smartphone game that we use perhaps a bit too often. You could argue that anything that people make in the world requires some form of design. In this how-to guide, we’re going to take this definition to heart and introduce you to design thinking. By the end of this, you’ll have a good understanding of the end-to-end design thinking process, and how it relates to the work that we do as UX designers.
