“After consulting with the on-call rheumatologist, I recommend that we admit you to the hospital for overnight observation.” My stomach dropped as the words came out of the urgent care physician’s mouth. My first reaction was that he had to be kidding, right? Surely I was blowing things out of proportion and there was a simple explanation.
