/r/askphilosophy aims to provide serious, well-researched answers to philosophical questions. Recently I was (as usual) bringing everything back to Quine and "Two Dogmas of Empiricism," which is the center of my philosophical bailiwick. I mentioned that some realist had probably never read Quine. Someone piped up and said: I think too many people have read that paper of Quine's and not read any of the papers demolishing it. But then no one was willing to explain just which papers have "demolished" Quine. So I ask you: Who are the prominent philosophers who have taken the trouble to examine Quine and argue against him? I don't know about "demolition," but you might look at Grice and Strawson's "In Defense of a Dogma" and Davidson's "On the Very Idea of a Conceptual Scheme". Not a philosopher of science here, but I'm guessing that almost nobody opposes the Quine-Duhem thesis, understood as a point about confirmation or falsification of claims.
