Update: this post was written in November, 2022. It’s now March, 2023. My family member ended up making pretty much a full recovery, which has shocked everyone. He is almost back to his old self. Also, if you visited this post before, you’d notice I took it down. That was after it received a lot more attention than I was comfortable with, and, more importantly, than my family members were comfortable with. Now that’s died down, so I’ve put it back up.

I’ve spent just about the last month visiting a family member in the ICU every day. Needless to say, this has been a terrible experience.…
