Assaf Rappaport was running late for school. To those who knew the 18 year old best, this truancy was nothing new. The consummate generalist had earned a reputation for spreading himself too thin—he was always busy with a friend, a new extracurricular, maybe a school trip. Rappaport describes his role in his family with characteristic middle-child-of-five wryness, “I’m the one that everybody was generally upset with, not answering the phone, not being available, not being there.
