Do u guys like "Sexual Personae" : r/RSbookclub
Not far into it at all but I kinda hate it so far. I'm a dude but Paglia has such an obvious hatred of women and reverence for specifically white men, not necessarily in her intellectual arguments but very much so in her language and imagery. The language is extremely vulgar as well, not in a cute Zizek way but in like this overly dramatic and serious way of highlighting the disgusting aspects of physical phenomena which would be more naturally romanticized. I also think she seems to imagine that there exists a masculinity in and of itself, whereas in my experience of masculinity it feels as if we are spiritually slave to women. Without woman masculinity seems to evaporate. The male will to power or greatness or meaning generally is surely entirely about women at the least, masculinity sans woman means autistic fixations on model trains or meaningless games or whatever.
