If I’m completely honest, the origins of this obsession came from a long history of wishing for love to materialize, a desire for love to be reciprocated, and the realization that it is. I missed one of my former best friends for the 104th time this year while trudging up a hill with groceries and listening to The Script. It’s funny, because at the same time, I have never been closer to my best friend now. I spent a long while thinking about the phrase “more than friends, less than lovers” and thought “what the f*ck does that even mean anyway?”... that’s not how I’d describe any of my relationships. I ultimately decided that the phrase was incredibly misleading and implies fundamentally incorrect assumptions about attraction.
