Concretely, you might do that by clustering your scraps into piles and observing the structure that emerges. Or you might sketch a mind map or a visual outline. The structure you observe does not have to match the book’s structure: it’s whatever makes sense relative to your own personal ontology (Do your own thinking). Once you have a picture of the concepts at play, you’ll begin an iterative process of note-writing. Here I’ve summarized Christian Tietze’s process, which I’m presently adopting / adapting:

Networked learning and connectivism - Transforming Digital Learning - Deakin University
the traditional school system from primary education is outdated and needs to adapt to the digital age by incorporating more dynamic and interactive teaching methods, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy, rather than rote memorization.

Sometime early in their life, usually they go through that bachelor degree. Many never continue. And then at some time the differentiated ones would come and do a master’s. And really, really amazing different people would do PhDs. That just isn’t going to work anymore.

Online learning design means understanding what effective learning means and what good online user experiences mean. The best design isn't about creating the most innovative, elaborate, or extensive experience. It's about distilling the learning experience down to its essence.

the value of CBT lies more in its ability to push people to take action, even if they still feel lousy.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: How to Change Your Mind - Scott H Young
CBT isn’t a specific technique. Instead, it’s a framework for thinking about psychological problems that incorporates many different methods. Exposure, mindfulness, hypothesis testing, self-acceptance, problem-solving, goal-setting and other ideas all fall into the CBT umbrella.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: How to Change Your Mind - Scott H Young
a lot of the advice in CBT reads like something straight out of a self-help book: take action, even if you don’t feel like it; visualize your intentions; set goals; exercise; and build habits to strengthen your motivation. That might be because CBT is simply common sense (if so, then it’s surprising it’s not more widely adopted).
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: How to Change Your Mind - Scott H Young
CBT encourages people to notice and question their automatic thoughts. Then, they use reasoning and experimentation to test their beliefs and adopt more realistic ones.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: How to Change Your Mind - Scott H Young
Even if the feedback is a mix of good and bad, the depressive person interprets it in a negative light, triggering automatic thoughts of failure that further depress her mood and make it harder for her to work.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: How to Change Your Mind - Scott H Young
our beliefs cause us to interpret ambiguous situations in particular ways. These interpretations give rise to automatic thoughts, verbalizations and images that rise to the level of consciousness. Those thoughts, in turn, produce emotional reactions and behaviors.

“Almost every idea that you have is downstream from what you consume. When you choose who to follow on Twitter, what book to read, what podcast to listen to, you’re choosing your future thoughts.”
How I Read - Rob Henderson's Newsletter
I don’t finish every book I start. I skim. I’ll read a chunk of a book, place it on my shelf, and then pick it up two years later and continue. There have been a couple of occasions where I’d read the first page of a book, found it dull, and donated it. More than a year later, I bought it again, and read the whole thing in a few days. Sometimes, you have to be ready for a book.
