People Human trafficking remains a significant and complex issue, with Vietnam functioning as a source, transit and destination country. Regional trafficking routes and Vietnam’s long, porous borders facilitate cross-border exploitation. Victims are trafficked for both forced labour and sex work, domestically and abroad – often through fraudulent recruitment schemes. Traffickers kidnap Vietnamese women and girls, primarily from the Hmong ethnic minority, and transport them to China for forced marriages and exploitation.
