you’ve found yourself in a situation where you don’t have the consistency and depth of connection you want. there are two strategies: start where you are and make incremental improvements; or blow everything up and start from scratch.
why I left nycspending time with people you like, sleeping well and exercising, doing things you’re good at, and doing kind things for others.
Life is a Picture, But You Live in a Pixel — Wait But WhyHumans have the ability to simulate future situations in our heads to predict what it’ll be like to experience them, but that simulator doesn’t always work so well and tends “to make you believe that different outcomes are more different than in fact they really are.”
Life is a Picture, But You Live in a Pixel — Wait But Whyfiguring out what’s actually true and, thus, what’s truly possible.
First principles thinking - by Lenny Rachitskydecade of investment in reliable and performant infra at Meta helped

Building Meta’s Threads App (Real-World Engineering Challenges)Automated tests don’t help a product with no product market fit

What is Atomic Research ?. Atomic Research is a new approach… | by Hannah Sellam | Feb, 2022 | BootcampBeing confined to a world of tradeoffs was a bummer
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne MurphyThe principle is that with a finite lifetime and a limited number of actions that can be taken, one can have a finite impact on society.
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne MurphyI believe everything happens for a reason – or more accurately, when looking back at your life you can draw meaning and lessons from everything you’ve taken risks on and from everything that’s happened to you.
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne MurphyAn abundance of choice has always been a significant source of anxiety for me
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne Murphybeing able to articulate why you do what you do grounds you in who you are, helps you build healthy habits, and magically attracts people and opportunities that get you excited to wake up every day.
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne Murphybut the underlying question that rarely makes it into surface level discussion – the far more interesting question – is why you do what you do.
Why I do what I do | Jocelyne Murphyinstead of arguing the benefits of a certain UI interaction compared to another, we’ll build both of them and test them side by side.
Deploying more, stressing less: how Felt achieves 15+ daily releasesEvery single pull request gets their isolated environment with its own database, frontend, and backend.
Deploying more, stressing less: how Felt achieves 15+ daily releasesWhenever a new engineer starts, we want them to be able to deploy a small change on their first day.
Deploying more, stressing less: how Felt achieves 15+ daily releasespeople often deploy on a weekend if they want to get a fix (or a feature) out the door before Mondays.
Deploying more, stressing less: how Felt achieves 15+ daily releaseshe more frequently a piece of software is used, the more important “feel” is.
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionthe feel of software is vital to adoption
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionTo really put customers at the center of your thinking, invert the “jobs to be done” so that the user’s needs are your primary focus. Think about your user’s higher-level goals. Why do they want to accomplish a task? And why do they want to do that? Think about all the levels of your user’s goals as you try to balance feature investments.
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionWhat decision best serves the most people?
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionit feels easier to just go back to this mindset of serving customers well in order to figure out what to do
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionservice-oriented mindset.
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionEncourage your teams to engage directly with customers, and build a culture of supporting users. You learn faster, and it helps build a community around your product. Don’t worry about the time your team spends in understanding customer problems. Your team will feel like it’s moving faster, not slower.
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionCustomer support is everyone’s job
What working at Figma taught me about customer obsessionProduct reviews are more about making decisions and debating directions
How Figma builds product - by Lenny RachitskyPeople were spending way too much time documenting this stuff,
How Notion builds product - by Lenny RachitskySo there is a bit more of this central planning and product coordination problem here to make sure that things are considered holistically and that people aren’t stepping over each other in a way that makes the product worse
How Notion builds product - by Lenny Rachitskyno part of the product can really be isolated
How Notion builds product - by Lenny RachitskyHow interconnected all of the products are
How Notion builds product - by Lenny RachitskyTheir shift from primarily async product feedback to more of an emphasis on real-time conversations
How Notion builds product - by Lenny RachitskyI started dreading the endless meetings and the hours spent working on product specs that had little chance of ever being implemented. The highlight of each day was the hour or so when I could put my headphones in and write code.
Switching from product management to engineering | Benjamin YolkenThis is where we need to “train” the model with a few examples. This is called Few-Shot learning, where we prompt the model with a few examples so that it picks up on the pattern and style we’re going for.
How To Train Your Pet LLM: Prompt EngineeringIt determines how creative the model should be.
LLM Parameters Demystified: Getting The Best Outputs from Language AIYou can never tell what message a city sends till you live there, or even whether it still sends one
Cities and AmbitionWhat cities provide is an audience, and a funnel for peers
