The design term discourages unnecessarily long links and, for mimic-joint hands, regularizes the linkage parameters.

but it cannot remove the underlying kinematic mismatch introduced by the chosen embodiment.
Generating Robot Hands from Human Demonstrations
we optimize robot hands so that human thumb-index fingertip motions are reproducible under inverse kinematics, rather than learning a separate complex policy for every candidate design.
Generating Robot Hands from Human Demonstrations
Changing the geometry of a hand changes the controller that best fits a motion, and changing the controller changes which designs appear useful.
Generating Robot Hands from Human Demonstrations
the body determines what motions are reachable, what contacts are stable, what forces can be transmitted, and which behaviors are easy or difficult to realize

Older Claude models perform better when images are replaced with text descriptions, which indicates that they have trouble reading enough precise spatial detail from pixels alone.
How Claude Performs on Robotics Tasks \ Anthropic
Nearly all models performed worse when training an RL policy than they did when creating a Pythonic controller.

A factor is any element relevant to the smart home system, including smart devices, the users, and the environment (e.g., weather, time of day). An attribute is an aspect of a factor. Example attributes of a user are whether they are asleep and whether they are at home. We will refer to the pair of a factor and an attribute as a variable (e.g., “whether the front door is locked” and “whether Alice is asleep”). A state is a statement that is true about the variable over some period of time (e.g., “Alice is asleep”), while an event is an instantaneous change in the variable's state (e.g., “Alice…

CAN bus signaling works via the differential voltage between the CAN-H and CAN-L lines, each of which idles at 2.5V.
Understanding Sensor Interfaces - UART, I2C, SPI and CAN
This additional expense and circuit complication often means this protocol is pushed aside in favor of other options.
Understanding Sensor Interfaces - UART, I2C, SPI and CAN
Today many applications for UART have been replaced by technologies like USB and Ethernet, but UART is still very much in use for many short-distance applications.

Thus, in this example, the probability of being alive at 60 is Pr ( 𝑋 > 60 ) = 𝑆 ( 60 ) ≈ 0.89 , and the probability of having died before 60 is 𝐹 ( 60 ) = 1 − 𝑆 ( 60 ) ≈ 0.11.

The field of user interface design has borrowed the term hysteresis to refer to times when the state of the user interface intentionally lags behind the apparent user input.
Hysteresis
Hysteresis is the dependence of the state of a system on its history.

As all the projective spaces of the same dimension over the same field are isomorphic, the same is true for their homography groups. They are therefore considered as a single group acting on several spaces, and only the dimension and the field appear in the notation, not the specific projective space.

Perspective-n-Point[1] (PnP) is the problem of estimating the pose of a camera given a set of n 3D points in the world and their corresponding 2D projections in an image. The camera pose consists of 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) which are made up of the rotation (roll, pitch, and yaw) and 3D translation of the camera with respect to an origin point in the world.
