it is awfully hard to be highly successful in a job or field in which one is unhappy.
Pmarchive · Pmarca Guide to Career Planning: OpportunityLife is way too short.
Pmarchive · Pmarca Guide to Career Planning: OpportunityThe world is a very malleable place. If you know what you want, and you go for it with maximum energy and drive and passion, the world will often reconfigure itself around you much more quickly and easily than you would think.
Pmarchive · Pmarca Guide to Career Planning: OpportunityDon’t fart around in second and third tier companies that don’t have a clear mission to dominate their markets.

Some Painful Questions We Ask Ourselves - by Sasha Chapinit’s worth examining how much of your lifestyle is based on, say, exuding an air of sophistication
Some Painful Questions We Ask Ourselves - by Sasha ChapinAre you sure the best way to positively influence the world, as defined by you, will just kind of filter down to you?
Some Painful Questions We Ask Ourselves - by Sasha ChapinCultures that prioritize family, community, regular face-to-face human interaction, strong social support networks, and especially those that have a built-in system for helping young people find spouses, will do better than those that don't
AI: Markets for Lemons, and the Great Logging OffI'm a strange creature in that I'm equal parts techno-optimist and neo-luddite depending on which day of the week it is.
AI: Markets for Lemons, and the Great Logging OffMy favorite recent example is detecting deepfakes by asking the caller to turn sideways:
What is AGI-hard - by swyx - L-Space DiariesThe map will only equal the territory when we can fully simulate our world for AI to train in, which means the AGI-hardness problem is also a proxy for the simulation hypothesis.
What is AGI-hard - by swyx - L-Space DiariesYou could write the best, most informed post on any given topic, but if it isn’t “search engine optimised” it will never see the light of day.
The Web Is FuckedPart of it is also young people saw what it was like during lockdown to live a "digital only" life and realized that meeting people in meatspace is a lot of fun too. Sounds simplistic, in a way, but I also believe there was the whole don't know what you've got till it's gone effect as well.
The expanding dark forest and generative AI | Hacker NewsIf the computer can’t suffer, its “art” cannot have meaning, and is therefore uninteresting to me.
The expanding dark forest and generative AI | Hacker NewsNot unlike teenagers using language to subvert their elders, or oppressed communities developing dialects that allow them to safely communicate amongst themselves.
The Expanding Dark Forest and Generative AIHard exiting out of this cycle requires coming up with unquestionably original thoughts and theories. It means seeing and synthesising patterns across a broad range of sources: books, blogs, cultural narratives served up by media outlets, conversations, podcasts, lived experiences, and market trends. We can observe and analyse a much fuller range of inputs than bots and generative models can.
The Expanding Dark Forest and Generative AIHipsterism and recency bias will help us here. Referencing obscure concepts, friends who are real but not famous, niche interests, and recent events all make you plausibly more human.
The Expanding Dark Forest and Generative AIWe're about to drown in a sea of pedestrian takes. An explosion of noise that will drown out any signal. Goodbye to finding original human insights or authentic connections under that pile of cruft.
The Expanding Dark Forest and Generative AIwe live in a world that we aren’t evolutionarily adapted to.
A case for extreme realism – Santi AranguriIt doesn’t make evolutionary sense. The reward metric is just the expected benefit of an action. Deviating from what is expected to benefit you is unfit behavior. But we do chase distractions, so what is happening?
A case for extreme realism – Santi AranguriI think the lack of clear business models for DAO tools is a near-term concern that will eventually be solved. Especially as more activity and computation moves to L2s and low-transaction fee blockchains which will enable new creative ways for projects to monetize on-chain.
Thoughts on DAO Tooling — p.mirror.xyzEmbrace imitating others.
Write to Learn — GraemeThe hard part is the vulnerable voyage into the self, as we clarify and challenge our thinking as we express it with real words. Our goal should just be to say things that are true, as simply as we can.
Write to Learn — GraemeBiodiversity is just as important in crypto ecosystems as natural ecosystems. Many of us have experienced this firsthand; the thing that seems to keep Ethereum alive relative to other smart contract platforms is the constant influx of new builders and ideators. If 'genetic variation' in the Ethereum ecosystem stopped tomorrow, Ethereum would 'die' relative to the other platforms.
Lakshman SankarPart of the game of succeeding in this ever-changing industry is maneuvering your position within the industry to be high centrality as the industry's network evolves.
Lakshman Sankarmake sure you're frequently exposed to great minds from different parts of the ecosystem.
Lakshman SankarInternet entrepreneurs and employees focused on building valuable systems and datasets. But the most valuable things in crypto are widely used logic and state.
Lakshman SankarI'm personally excited to see more DAOs taking on the role of TTP for facilitating cross-chain communications.
Lakshman Sankarwe can think of the mitigation layers for MEV as three, three layers. Firstly, there is application layer, which is things that KeeperDAO and ArcherDAO are doing, then there’s the network layer, something like what Flashbots doing by introducing a new API endpoint for transactions. And then there’s also the protocol layer, which is basically introducing ordering introducing randomization in the transaction ordering, or kind of splitting the processes of ordering and execution
#25 Paradigm’s Thesis – w/ Charlie Noyes, Georgios Konstantopoulos and Hasu [+transcript] – Uncommon Core by Su Zhu and Hasuefficiency gains for users from aggregating and clearing their preferences inside the same auction.
The Future of MEV is SUAVE | FlashbotsOpening up this Builder API had a pleasant side effect — instead of Flashbots being the sole channel to block producers, anyone could become a block builder now. A competitive builder market emerged, letting validators automatically choose the highest bid.
The Future of MEV is SUAVE | FlashbotsOn the internet and in my own circles, the vibe shifted from putting work above all else to finding sufficient work to sustain a great life.
EIR at Paradigm — lukeFlashbots Protect extended the benefits of bundles (pre-trade privacy + no reverts) to regular users.
The Future of MEV is SUAVE | FlashbotsThe bundle was a new transaction type with favorable properties for MEV extraction, most of all the ability to express a preference on the placement of your transaction in relation to another
The Future of MEV is SUAVE | FlashbotsThis is still underrated.
