Many years ago I worked as the head of physical security for a business in Los Angeles. That business had a lot of threats due to the nature of the industry it was part of and the times in which it operated. The threats were wild. The customers were considered a threat, the employees a threat, the government a threat, and even the vendors; crazy times in the LA legal weed industry. We always had to think proactively to devise creative ways to stop all the threats. So what did we do? For the customers we beefed up restrictions: you can’t wear a hoodie inside the store, no knives, secure hallway, always asking questions. I took on the liberty of teaching my team how to do behavior analysis on the go and see who’s there to purchase and who is there to rob.
