Introduction to Galerkin Methods TAM 470 October 19, 2016 1 Introduction These notes provide a brief introduction to Galerkin projection methods for numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDEs). Included in this class of discretizations are finite element methods (FEMs), spectral element methods (SEMs), and spectral methods.
