Update 25th March: I am less confident in this take now. Some of these ideas came out of conversations with Justin Dollman. So some credit must go to him. This does not mean he endorses anything written here. There’s a meme spreading in AI safety circles that goes something like this: the field doesn’t have enough jobs, therefore we need to find more founders to start new orgs, so they can absorb all the talent coming out of programmes like MATS.
