I have lived in Germany for most of my life and thought about leaving for a long time. The day has finally come, today is my first day living in the United States. I could not be more excited to begin this new chapter and I feel grateful for everyone who supported me along the way.1 That being said, I feel sad because I am pretty certain that I had to leave Germany out of necessity.
