An important artistic device appears in the first line of Emily Wilson’s recent review, when she describes Nolan’s Odyssey as an excellent way to escape the heat. But soon we get an even finer example: My teenagers had a good time. This device is—of course—a troll. What gives this troll a special kick is that she is not only trolling the teenage mindset of American blockbuster movies; she is also low-key trolling her own children! That takes guts.
