When I was in my early teens and up until my twenties, I didn’t pay a lot of attention to my health. I think most of us do the same: if we feel okay, we assume we’re “healthy”. That is until we either learn that it’s much more nuanced than that, or until we develop a disease that requires immediate attention. Most diseases are treatable at their early stages, but noticeable symptoms often don’t appear until it’s too late. Hence lies the problem: if you just go by the “feeling of health” and don’t do regular check-ups, when something becomes an issue, it will likely be too late.
