Mechanisms, causes, and evaluation of orthostatic hypotension INTRODUCTION Orthostatic hypotension is a condition described by a significant reduction in blood pressure that typically occurs upon standing or assuming an upright posture. It may be asymptomatic or symptomatic and can be due to impaired autonomic reflexes or intravascular volume depletion.
