“Heaven and hell are places on earth, and you’ve chosen to put yourself in hell,” G once told me, after the nth time of me dragging him to our common room to hear me whine. Part of the reason I’m in “hell” is my innate pessimistic and overthinking nature. The other part is that I actively place myself in challenging situations. Moving out to D.C. by myself to live in a studio during quarantine, the first semester abroad in London, the separation anxiety from leaving the U.K… I’d rather be overworked, if it means I have companions in the same boat. Having graduated and once again searching for my next distraction to fight off the loneliness, I’ve become fascinated by “experience” businesses—from brick-and-mortar restaurants / hospitality to SaaS startups
