Before this summer, I spent a lot of time doing research and working on more theoretical work. So I really didn’t know what to expect when I joined a startup essentially from day 0. I knew it would be hectic but wasn’t really sure what to expect. The founders both previously worked on building super cool companies that reached major success. One was in consumer and the other on the more technical side. Working alongside them completely changed the way I think through problems and view the world. I’ve found that I’ve become a lot more systematic in the way I think, having some sort of hypothesis/assumption and then understanding how to set up experimentation to validate that. I found it interesting how they both had completely different companies but came to the same conclusion, experimentation is key when it comes to building something people want. I used to think you needed to get it right the first time you built something, this summer taught me almost the complete opposite. In fact
