Awakening is the realization that far more can be found in direct experience than any concept, belief system, or narrative. The process of awakening is an ever-unfolding one, a deepening of that which is beyond all words and thoughts. We are in service of discovering that for ourselves. I'm not trying to be cryptic, I really do mean something. I'll explain: All of us are in various states of awakeness and somnambulism. I believe that there are a handful of major, important awakening milestones, and plenty of small ones. It's possible to live your moment-by-moment experience constantly merging deeper and deeper with the moment itself. As we go about our spiritual practice and explore our own consciousness, there are certain aspects of our experience that we're trying to change. Often these aspects are resistant to change.
