The number one question I see asked of successful freelancers in comment sections and twitter replies is “how do I find clients?” - and while I know that this is a really well-meaning question, I believe there is a better question to ask in it’s place. There are hundreds of ways that you could find clients from cold calling, cold emailing, social outreach, paid marketing, etc. but all of those ways put you in a position where you have to sell yourself and convince a client that you are legitimate, experienced, and the right person to work with.
