Given that I study comparative literature, I often get asked the question "what is your favorite book of all time?" This naturally is super hard to answer, since it really depends on the person asking the question since interests always vary a ton. But since people in startups and business are presumably reading this blog, I thought I would write about one of my favorites pertaining to idealism, perspectivism, and the strange art of making other people believe in your delusion. It's Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes. I spent a semester studying Cervantes's Don Quixote closely during my Sophomore year of college (SPA 441). The course only read the novel and scholarship regarding it, addressing things such as its narrative architecture, its social critiques, its philosophical layers, etc. More theoretical than anything, not technically interesting. But ultimately I came away convinced that the novel is, among many other things, the most honest portrayal of startup ideation ever written. No
