So you head out for a drive. Image by Kevin Klarer The start of the trip entails climbing up and over the ridge, and is full of back and forth switchbacks. You’re driving 30 mph complying with the speed limit as you climb up and over. The road is curvy and it’s fun to drive. But it’s clear as you climb the mountain you aren’t actually going very far. Much of the driving is wasted on the back and forth motion
