As a founder of a purpose-led business, not a charity or registered social enterprise, I sit at a funny intersection of client perception. Perhaps it’s that purpose-led businesses are less researched, or that ‘purpose’ has become such a buzz-word that it carries less meaning, but the assumption that my business is either a charity or should provide free services is commonplace. The caveat to this is that I am not an academic researcher on this topic. I am just a founder trying to navigate this obscure path. I should also say that I do have a wonderful client base of businesses, brands and collaborators who do pay for services. For this, I am forever grateful and they are truly pioneering businesses and individuals who focus on longevity and understand social impact.
