Designlab | Creating a Research Plan
The first step in generating insight and coming up with possible solutions is deciding how you want to perform your research. You have a variety of tools at your disposal — customer interviews, competitive analysis, contextual inquiries, and diary studies are just a few — to figure out how to gather the information that will help you provide an amazing experience to your users. It's important that you communicate what your research process will be to the other stakeholders on your team. Take a look at this appendix for extra information. To get started, you'll need to identify which customers you are targeting initially, what the best research methods are, and what your key areas of inquiry are (i.e., what are some key things you want to learn from your users). Your research plan will help you structure your approach to understand the opportunities in this area.
