LinkedIn has changed a lot in the past few years. I'm checking my feed for new job openings almost hourly, and it's demoralizing wading through the endless stream of posts celebrating team achievements, new product launches, and work anniversary announcements. I'm thoroughly embarrassed to wear the #opentowork tag, but I can't afford to let an opportunity pass me by. It's also depressing to see the ratio of UX:ID jobs is like 20:1, but on top of that, UX seems to pay absurdly high salaries compared to ID. 20 years into my career, and I find myself wishing I'd done something else with my life. All of the successful projects I've done, with big brand names, all of the millions in revenue my work has produced, and I'm shut out in the cold.
