Just six seconds. This is what is considered the time it takes to recruiters to look at curriculum vitae. While some teams spend more time reviewing, this is a criteria that should give you some indicator of how quick can be the analysis of CVs. Designers have an extra advantage here: often the portfolio is required on submission. While this means more work to apply, it also means that there’s an extra opportunity to show the work instead of just telling about it. This article doesn’t want to be a comprehensive guide, but it collects a few key points that I often see missing in design portfolios that are in my view very important.
