1. Say to yourself in the early morning: I shall meet to-day inquisitive, ungrateful, violent, treacherous, envious, uncharitable men. All these things have come upon them through ignorance of real good and ill. But I, because I have seen that the nature of good is the right, and of ill the wrong, and that the nature of the man himself who does wrong is akin to my own (not of the same blood and seed, but partaking with me in mind, that is in a portion of divinity), I can neither be harmed by any of them, for no man will involve me in wrong, nor can I be angry with my kinsman or hate him; for w…

At this point in his life, Beebe was forming a close friendship with then-president Theodore Roosevelt, which would last until Roosevelt's death in 1919. Beebe admired Roosevelt's skill as a field naturalist as well as his advocacy of conservation, and Roosevelt's fame made his support highly valuable in Beebe's scientific endeavors. Roosevelt in turn admired Beebe's writing and his respect for the natural world.[55][56] Roosevelt frequently provided praise for Beebe's books, and went on to write introductions to Beebe's books Tropical Wild Life and Jungle Peace

And the next time you raise your gun to needlessly take a feathered life, think of the marvelous little engine which your lead will stifle forever; lower your weapon and look into the clear bright eyes of the bird whose body equals yours in physical perfection, and whose tiny brain can generate a sympathy, a love for its mate, which is sincerity and unselfishness suffers little when compared with human affection.
William Beebe
Beebe's second book, The Bird, Its Form and Function, was published in 1906

Beebe's first book, titled Two Bird Lovers in Mexico, was an account of this expedition. The last chapter was written by Blair and was an explanation of how to plan and execute a vacation in the wilderness

While attending Columbia, Beebe persuaded his professors to sponsor him and several fellow students taking research trips to Nova Scotia, where he continued his hobby of collecting, as well as attempting to photograph difficult-to-observe scenes of birds and other animals. Several of Beebe's photographs from these expeditions were purchased by Columbia professors to use as slides during their lectures.

William Clare Roberts (2017), for example, argues that Capital Volume 1 is fundamentally a work of political theory, rather than economics. Be that as it may, the work does nevertheless contain substantial presentation of an economic analysis of capitalism, and it is on this that we will focus here.
Karl Marx (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy)
Historical Materialism is the application of Marxist science to historical development. The fundamental proposition of historical materialism can be summed up in a sentence: "it is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but, on the contrary, their social existence that determines their consciousness."
Historical Materialism
described capitalism as driven by a relentless pursuit of profit, rooted in the extraction of surplus value from workers. This concept of surplus value is central to understanding his critique.

Proposition 32 In any triangle, if one of the sides is produced, then the exterior angle equals the sum of the two interior and opposite angles, and the sum of the three interior angles of the triangle equals two right angles.

Fundamental Rights be incorporated in the Nigerian Constitution. These should include the right of appeal to the highest court of the land, the right of bail, the right for free election and that is direct election with single member constituencies, secret ballot and campaign without being molested, discriminated against on ground of party affiliation or religion

Have no fear of any Chief, Governor, Resident or District Officer because they are all our employees. They are paid out of our general tax and jangali, so they are of no account. Your slave boy (dandako) cannot be an object of fear to you
The Significance of NEPU in the History of Nigeria | Intervention
To repeat what I have frequently said before, the executive of NEPU and its founder members are a worthless lot in terms of both mental calibre and experience. They do, however, possess drive, zeal and appreciable measure of organizing ability. This thing can spread and it will spread unless responsible Africans who have the real future of the North at heart get down to it at once and organize a counter offensive

The Northern Elements Progressive Union of Northern Nigeria, therefore, being the only political party of the Talakawa, enters the field of political action determined to reduce to nonentity any party of hypocrites and traitors to our mother country, and calls upon all the sons and daughters of Northern Nigeria to muster under its banner to the end, that a speedy termination may be wrought to this vicious system of administration which deprives them of the fruits of their labour, and that POVERTY may give place to COMFORT, PRIVILEGE to EQUALITY, and political, economic and social SLAVERY to F…

in order that this machinery of government, including these forces, may be converted from an instrument of oppression into the agent of emancipation, and the overthrow of bureaucracy and autocratic privilege. That all political parties are but the expression of class interest, and as the interest of the Talakawa diametrically opposed to the interest of all sections of the master class both white and black, the party seeking the emancipation of the Talakawa must naturally be hostile to the party of the oppressors.
The Significance of NEPU in the History of Nigeria | Intervention
That this antagonism can be abolished only by the emancipation of the Talakawa from the domination of these privileged few and by the reform of the present autocratic political institutions and placing their democratic control in the hands of the Talakawa for whom alone they exist.
The Significance of NEPU in the History of Nigeria | Intervention
We were perfectly happy in 1914. Later, although they had been our traditional enemies we became friends with the Southerners – I established great friendship with some of the chiefs in the south – but now, because our points of view are so divergent, we have become enemies again.[2]

Let us now consider the residue of each of these products; it consists of the same unsubstantial reality in each, a mere congelation of homogeneous human labour, of labour power expended without regard to the mode of its expenditure. All that these things now tell us is, that human labour power has been expended in their production, that human labour is embodied in them. When looked at as crystals of this social substance, common to them all, they are – Values.
Economic Manuscripts: Capital Vol. I - Chapter One
“From religion comes a man’s purpose; from science, his power to achieve it. Sometimes people ask if religion and science are not opposed to one another. They are: in the sense that the thumb and fingers of my hands are opposed to one another. It is an opposition by means of which anything can be grasped.” [Salam, Abdus, The Art of the Physicist, New Scientist, 35 (20 Jul 1967):163]
Egypt at the Time of Joseph
The Bible does not say. Of course the Bible never mentions pyramids either. Only the captain of Pharaoh’s guard, was mentioned. “And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.” (Genesis 39:1)
Egypt at the Time of Joseph
Joseph apparently came to Egypt around 1600 to 1700 BC. Bishop Ussher has Joseph arriving in 1706 BC; undoubtedly on Friday afternoon, February 13th, just in time for dinner.

Life, it’s actually not about just adding up our results. Life is about so much more than this!!! It’s about who we are, and who we become, on the way to these results.
Your Dad, the Magician by Elina Svitolina | The Players’ Tribune
I think of that. How he always, always, always stayed true. To his own path. To his own style. To his own identity. To his own beliefs. To his joy for the game … his respect for the game … his love for the game … and even simply to the game itself

But I’ll tell you what: It’s moments like this where you really find out if someone has your back. Because there is support — the kind like “oh, honey, I’m here for you” — and then there is support. And with your dad, it’s like, he doesn’t go halfway. He’s not just having my back, he’s actually my partner in this.
Your Dad, the Magician by Elina Svitolina | The Players’ Tribune
It’s a great lesson I’ve learned, and a great lesson for you as well….. how being someone’s partner, it can be fun but also it’s hard work. So you want to make sure you choose a partner who is comfortable with both. And for me, that’s Gaël

When it comes to applying these standards to the complex situations of our time, the contributions of philosophy and of the human and social sciences is essential.
