Gastrointestinal disorders (GI) (14 studies) More than 90% of AN patients report fullness, early satiety, abdominal distention, pain and nausea [68]. The actual cause of the increased prevalence of GI disorders and their contribution to ED maintenance remain poorly understood
Psychiatric and medical comorbidities of eating disorders: findings from a rapid review of the literature | Journal of Eating Disorders | Full TextOf concern, the proportion of people with an ED not accessing treatment is estimated to be as high as 75% [13], potentially a consequence of comorbidities which impact on motivation, the ability to schedule appointments or require clinical prioritisation (i.e., self-harm or suicidal behaviours) [14]. I loved the way my scalp felt like a velvety vole. But in a way, it was high maintenance. It required makeup and a proper outfit. And growing it out was a bore.
When a woman crops her hair, it can send a powerful message | Fashion | The GuardianIt is true that, historically, a shaved head is associated with some pretty bad stuff. Deposed emperors in Byzantium would have their heads shaved, along with castration and disfigurement. The Merovingians shaved the heads of dethroned kings or failed successors. French women who slept with German soldiers in the second world war had their heads shaved and were then paraded through the streets. It has been used as a tool to shame, dehumanise and mark in different cultures.
