Clearly say your own name, have some short introductory blurb about yourself. Don't just say "im kw2002" or worse "im the new coop", each is easily forgettable, you may as well not even be introduced in this case. Instead add on some clear openness and invitational attitude like "Hi I'm kw2002, Im working on XYZ. Maybe we can sit down sometime or have lunch and talk about how things work at (company)/(life in city).

I use my book to keep goals in. I have kept the same section in my book for goals for years and just keep adding ideas to it. Especially for the lifetime goals. I figure I do not have to do all of them but having them in one place makes it easy to review when I periodically review them.

If you want to develop new knowledge, you need the reverse mindset -- evaluate a new idea or a new data point not based on what you want to believe, but based on what it tells you.

practice Mudita (Buddhist concept for sharing the joy of others). Also called Freudenfreude in German. The idea is that we naturally have empathy and pity for those in worse situations than us, and just like a muscle we can exercise happiness for those who have good things. An exercise I’ve found to practice Mudita is this: First imagine some of your wildest dreams coming true. Then imagine a close friend or family member’s dreams coming true. Next, someone you are neutral about (like a cashier you see regularly). Lastly, and most importantly, imagine good things happening to someone you reall…

There's an exercise called "change the channel" to use when you notice you are comparing yourself to others. stop dead and start describing the things you see quickly. "I see a chair, I see a tree, I see grass, etc." Until the thought is redirected. When it creeps back in do it again, faster and faster. It'll break the cognitive loop that you're stuck in.

PNW_Uncle_Iroh • 3y ago • It happens naturally the older you get and the more you experience. You start to realize that nooone has anything that you don’t have. People who appear to be rich are really poor, people who appear to be confident are really insecure, and people who appear to be happy are really hurting. The trick is to not compare your insides to other peoples’ outsides.

I very genuinely just do not care. Some people need stuff. I do not. If that’s a problem for them, it doesn’t effect me. I have food, clothing, a roof and a happy family. What else is there?

I really believe biotech, neuroscience / brain-computer interaction, and advanced AI will spark the next big wave of tech. However, these new startups and products have to overcome the competition and the general stranglehold of Big Tech (look at OpenAI for example), so it won’t be easy.

all of your points are 2 lines, that's too much. Recruiters probably only read the first line before skipping the rest. so many commas in your resume points, doesn't flow well and can be hard to understand. This is especially true for recruiters that are just scanning your resume. know your audience. The very first thing a recruiter sees is "Developed an image transition feature for a GIS...". I personally have no idea what any of that means, so might not be a good first impression for a recruiter.

Good luck! TBH, if you're on your first/second co-op I really wouldn't focus too much on big names or the US. Toss a few applications at your "dream" jobs but focus on local places in TO that suit your skillset. In my first co-op search I focused way too hard on big names and didn't get a job until the day I was moving out of res in 1B.

They laughed at that and I think it’s because they had a theory of action model in their head: you write the best book you can, and of course you want it to be a bestseller, but either it does or it doesn’t. But I was working backwards, I had a theory of change: I asked, What makes something a best seller?

Long Short Term Memory Neural Networks (LSTM)'s inherent ability to efficiently handle sequential data is leveraged within an ensemble learning strategy towards the development of different versions of ensemble models. Brain machine interfaces (BMIs) or brain computer interfaces (BCIs) are devices that connect our brains directly to computers. These intelligent systems can decipher brain signals using five consecutive stages: signal acquisition, pre-processing, feature extraction, classification, and control interface
