A Quebec politician is on a mission to incinerate all Ottawa's garbage | Ottawa CitizenShe wants to build a waste-to-energy plant big enough to process 400,000 tonnes of garbage a year – all of the garbage from Ottawa, Pembroke, Renfrew County, Gatineau and other Outaouais municipalities
A Quebec politician is on a mission to incinerate all Ottawa's garbage | Ottawa CitizenTo understand this language of sites is to appreciate the metaphor between the syntactical construct and the complex of ideas, letting the former function as a three dimensional picture which doesn't look like a picture

Elements of Visual Interpretation - Natural Resources CanadaCombining an unfamiliar perspective with a very different scale and lack of recognizable detail can make even the most familiar object unrecognizable in an image
Elements of Visual Interpretation - Natural Resources Canadawe lose our sense of depth when viewing a two-dimensional image, unless we can view it stereoscopically so as to simulate the third dimension of height
Elements of Visual Interpretation - Natural Resources CanadaTargets may be defined in terms of the way they reflect or emit radiation
Elements of Visual Interpretation - Natural Resources Canadaidentification of various targets in an image, and those targets may be environmental or artificial features which consist of points, lines, or areas

Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -Democratizing infrastructure is a way to reintroduce agency
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -city builders to find places where people already congregate and have a sense of ownership over the space
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -transverse cross-sections communicate more about the connections within a space and can tell us more about ownership, transportation modes, and vertical connections. These more detailed views bring us closer to the experience of a particular place
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -Sendra states that longitudinal sections communicate the narrative of place by exposing transitions between private, semi-private, and public spaces through barriers, fences, buildings, and pathways
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -relinquish some control
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -By contrast, an “open city” is where infrastructure is accessible and useable by more people. This could mean having additional water and electrical outlets in public places for general use or creating lighting and sound systems integrated into the streetscape and designed to enable different events, markets, or other uses
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -“Disorder”, for example, is spontaneity enabled and describes what happens when people interact more fully and freely with their city. It is also only possible in the “open city.” The “open” and “closed city” refer to how infrastructure is managed. Cities are commonly “closed,” meaning their infrastructure systems are inaccessible and managed by municipal staff and experts
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -boosting social interactions in cities by making room for chance encounters.
Book Review - Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City -Suburban zones spilled out beyond them, and people and goods moved back and forth
An Alternative History of the 'Radical' Suburbs - Bloomberguburbs have been around as long as cities have. In the third millennium BCE, the suburbs of Ur stretched miles beyond the city. In ancient Rome, the urban outskirts were where the nobility kept “country” retreats
An Alternative History of the 'Radical' Suburbs - Bloomberga register of human existence which corresponded at one point in time to a natural space of co-habitation that sequentially gets co-opted (produced) by the church, the state and finally bent around the interests of the dominant industrial-capitalist class
Lefebvre And Urbanizationurban was a term which operated both as a sociological potentiality as well as an effectively transhistorical category of space; both revolutionary and repressive, theoretical and quotidian

Counter Cartographies with Lize Mogel – MIT Center for Civic MediaBecause plastic production has doubled every 10 to 15 years, even if we were to stop making it today, so much plastic is already in use that more and more plastic waste would accumulate in the environment and, potentially, in our bodies for decades to come
