A rule might say that all files ending in .go are owned by the @gophers team, or all files in the docs/ directory are owned by the @docs team.

Golang landmines
The above function will always return a nil error, because the inner err variable "shadows" the function scope variable. Adding a var result string and not using := would fix this.
Golang landmines
An interface value is nil only if the V and T are both unset, (T=nil, V is not set), In particular, a nil interface will always hold a nil type. If we store a nil pointer of type *int inside an interface value, the inner type will be *int regardless of the value of the pointer: (T=*int, V=nil). Such an interface value will therefore be non-nil even when the pointer value V inside is nil.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - The Go Programming Language
It is very easy to do this with error values. http://golang.org/doc/faq#nil_error
Golang landmines
This is because the interface serves as a pointer, so GetACat effectively returns a pointer to a nil pointer.
Golang landmines
Guess what? The above test will NOT detect the nil pointer!
Golang landmines
Everyone expects these values to be scoped inside the loop, but go reuses the same memory location for every iteration.

We will need to build a Kubelet and Kubernetes shim at some point that will be the first step in bringing Aurae to a Kubernetes cluster.

Aurae is a Turing complete scripting language that resembles TypeScript that executes against the daemon.

Auraed is the main runtime daemon and gRPC server. The intention is for this to replace pid 1 on modern Linux systems, and ultimately replace systemd once and for all.

I believe that the node systems will be close enough to the kernel that having a memory safe language like Rust will make Aurae as extensible as it needs to be to win the Node.

Having a set of node-level features exposed over gRPC would potentially enable more than just a Kubernetes control plane.

Even mechanisms like Linux’s kexec(8) and the ability to hot-swap a kernel on a machine could be exposed to a control plane such as Kubernetes.

Aurae calls out a simple standard library specifically for each node in a cluster. Each node will be re imagined such that it is autonomous and designed to work during a connectivity outage on the edge.

Why fix Kubernetes and Systemd?. Learn why and how the Aurae Runtime… | by Kris Nóva | Medium
While there isn’t necessarily anything intrinsically wrong with running sidecars themselves, I do wonder if the uptick in sidecar usage is remnants of an anti-pattern?

To be candid — I want to simplify systems that run on a node — and I want the Node to be managed in the same place the rest of my infrastructure is managed.
Why fix Kubernetes and Systemd?. Learn why and how the Aurae Runtime… | by Kris Nóva | Medium
The node should be simple. Managing node services should be simple. We should manage node services the same way we manage cluster services.

The duplication of scope is one of the main motivating reasons behind Aurae. I believe that distributed systems should have more ownership of what is running on a node.

Thus, an operator, engineer, and end-user I end up needing to learn, and manage both systemd and Kubernetes at the same time.

The way you deploy an application to Fly.io infrastructure is via a Dockerfile, which is internally consumed by Fly.io.

For deployments, Fly.io uses Firecracker-based micro-VMs, which supposedly boot in some hundreds of milliseconds and are automatically suspended when inactive, which reduces cost.
