I need to have ACL reconstruction (meniscus is fine, just ACL). I live alone and I don't really have anyone that will be able to take time off to take care of me (I can probably get someone to come over for a bit in the evenings). Is this crazy? What will the first few days be like? The surgeon's office said "you'll need help the first couple of days" but what does that mean? I needed help for almost 6 weeks (varying levels of help). I didn't resume driving until 6 weeks. I don't mean to scare you, my experience isn't typical, but as someone who was wrecked by surgery I can at least give some information to help you plan for you recovery. My recommendation: stock up on food/snacks anything easy to prepare. Protein bars are good to have on hand. (Buy more then you think you'll need) if you live in a 2 story move your life downstairs baby wipes (unsecented) you won't be showering for a few days. journal to keep track of events/pill consumption, etc. laxative (miralax works good) ice mach
