Calgary Equity Index
Social equity means adjusting conditions to address people's diverse needs, strengths, and social realities so everyone has the opportunity to thrive. The World Health Organization defines an equitable society as one where "everyone can reach their full potential for health and well-being." In cities like Calgary, equity matters because access to opportunities and resources isn’t the same for everyone — it can depend on factors like sex, gender, age, race, ethnicity, or disability.
