We have a very odd fetish for saboteurs: Someone whom we consider to be superior, because we believe their advice is right. Someone who frowns while reading our work and criticizes it, because that’s what is practical and realistic. We’re so new in this realm. It’d be weird to earn even one praise. Someone who, the moment they see us jumping over joy, tells us to stop, get ourselves together, and be alert of possible threats coming our way. Someone who would make us feel bad. And makes us believe that feeling bad is the right thing to do. No pain no gain, am I right? Don’t we just love to let those kinds of people influence our creative
