When pure willpower fails, what strategies do we use to shape our environment towards our goals?
Recently, I found myself in a room full of smart and interesting individuals (something that’s been happening increasingly often, and one of the things I’m most grateful for), of whom only about 25% had Instagram downloaded on their phones. It was an EA social, so maybe there are some selection effects here, but still surprising! The majority (including me) had an account they could access through web browsers, but deleted the app in an attempt to avoid the addictive force of social media.
