Imagine you are making a cross-country journey westward by automobile from Montreal on the Trans-Canada Highway. From Montreal, you would take Highway 17 heading west. At Hawkesbury, you would travel into Ontario, staying on Highway 17 and would pass through such small communities as Alfred, Plantagenet, Orleans and Eastview before entering Ottawa on the Montreal Road.
