Since The Merge, adoption of MEV-Boost has grown such that slot auctions now deliver around 95% of Ethereum mainnet blocks. At the time of writing eight entities are operating relays at the centre of this architecture. Their job is to act as a trusted escrow agents, conducting the auction, performing appropriate blinding of block contents and ensuring validator payment.
