https://nzanzig.substack.com/p/the-vanguard-of-healthcare?r=2vz46&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web After listening to the Acquired episode on Vanguard (https://www.acquired.fm/episodes/vanguard, I couldn't stop thinking about how a corollary opportunity exists in healthcare, and no one has built anything like it. I wrote an article about it (link in comments). What would the "Vanguard of Healthcare" look like? 1. Create a product that simplifies purchasing/decision making to a single basket of goods everyone needs (create an index fund of health) 2. Offer it for a radically low fee 3. Aggregate massive buying power because everyone needs this product and wants the low price 4. Use your scale to gain operating leverage and continually lower fees 5. Optional: A mutual company structure where the customers own the company, so gains do not accrue to shareholders, but instead return to customers in the form of lower prices. It would not truly be the "Vanguard of Healthcare" unless you began with the last step.
