“Pedagogy” is the science of teaching. It makes an awful lot of sense for k-12 teachers to study the science of teaching: we want our students to learn, after all, don’t we? It also makes sense for other organizations—say businesses, the US military, or the FAA, for example—to think carefully about pedagogy. If a business wants to produce a high achieving sales staff, it likely needs to train them. The US military, of course, renowned for the efficacy of its fighting forces, is renowned for the rigors and efficacy of its training.
