How do you best take notes from and understand a research paper? : labrats

Hi labrats, so, I have a research paper to read for coursework but it's super long and it's all about COVID (which tbh I understand why but after non-stop hearing about for the past 2 yrs, I legit can't be asked to learn about it anymore). Anyways, point is, how would you best engage with a paper and make notes (without getting bored lool)? Boil it down to a slightly rearranged scientific method: Observation: what is the gap in knowledge this research is trying to address? Hypothesis: what do they think the answer is? Conclusions: what do they think they saw? Experiments: what were their lines of evidence? Did you find it convincing? Are the controls satisfying? Iteration: what next steps do they propose? New gaps identified? Then from there, I'd add more general thoughts, did they make their point well? Were there experiments they maybe should have done that they didn't? What do you think it would be interesting to follow up on? Questions you're left with? This might be challenging to
